Jared
Wilhelm began teaching at Lincoln Lutheran in 2004. His first teaching
experience was student teaching at Lincoln High. He graduated from the
University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
While Mr. Wilhelm was growing up, he lived with his older
brother and sister. His sister was the oldest and was involved in a lot
of concert bands and marching bands in high school and college. His
brother spent some time in sports, mainly intramural, and went on to
study architecture at the University of Nebraska and in London. Mr.
Wilhelm was heavily involved in music throughout school, much like his
sister, except he was much more focused on jazz. Now some of his family
lives in London. His sister teaches middle school music at Norris and
his parents still live and work in the southwest part of Lincoln. His
brother is an architect in Denver, Colorado and is quite successful. He
was married in the summer of 2007 to Alyssa Johnson.
Mr. Wilhelm believes that he was led here by God to work at
Lincoln Lutheran. In college, he felt drawn to and wanted to work at a
Christian school. So when he received the call he took it. His favorite
thing about teaching here is all the concert bands but especially the
Jazz Ensemble. Besides teaching, he works with the Jazz Ensemble,
Rocketry Club, and the Middle School Jazz Club. His favorite memory
while teaching was waking up junior John Chatwell with the crash
cymbals, after he had fallen asleep during Symphonic Band.
