Our mission...

Lincoln Lutheran exists to equip young people to be faithful disciples of Christ Jesus by providing an excellent, Christ-centered education

...How you can help

Choral Music

MUSIC

The Lincoln Lutheran Music program is a successful, growing part of the community here at Lincoln Lutheran. Many students are involved with choir, band or strings.  These musical groups are a very visible part of our school, performing in numerous concerts, at sporting events, and in local churches.  These are wonderful ways to be witnesses for Christ and carry God’s Word to our community.  Our students have developed a reputation as great young Christians who achieve excellence in music.

Each year, many students audition and are accepted in a number of honor groups which have included All State, NCC Honor Band, Concordia Honor Band and Choir, Winter Winds, Wesleyan and a number of other groups.  The individual achievements of our students are a wonderful example of the many gifts we have received through God at Lincoln Lutheran.

The Music Department at Lincoln Lutheran exists to create music to the glory of God and to help prepare our students for a lifetime of service to the Lord. We believe that music is an integral part of a complete music education for any student, and we strive to educate all students about the many and various aspects of this art form. God has given each of us different talents and abilities.  It is our goal to help students discover and develop those talents, both musical and non-musical, that they may use them to the fullest extent for the glory of God.

Choral Music

High School Chorale is a music elective offered to students in grades 9-12.  Members meet one period per day to prepare for on and off campus performances. Chorale rehearsals are devoted to the development of choral ensemble techniques, the strengthening of individual voices and the nurturing of musicianship. Annual on campus performances include the Fall Sampler, Christmas and Spring Concerts as well as Graduation. Select groups may be chosen from the Chorale to perform separately as a Jazz Ensemble, Praise Team or Special Ensemble for various music competitions.

Chorale students share their talents and witness their faith off campus by providing service music at least once during the school year for each of Lincoln Lutheran’s association churches. As a “fun fundraiser” we delivered nearly eighty Singing Valentines in the Lincoln/Seward communities this past year. Proceeds will help defray the cost of our choir/band tour in Spring 2009, but the greatest benefit of the event is the joy we share in song!

Our Music Department had the privilege of hosting Conference Music in March, 2008. Chosen to participate in this special honor choir were:  Sarah Lohmeyer, Olivia Oetting, Jenna Carlin, Jenna Ripke, Trevor Bohlender, Tyler Nicholas and Preston Holley.  Jenna Ripke also earned the distinction of being selected for the All State Choir.

At the annual District Music Event, the LLHS Chorale enjoys a long standing tradition of receiving excellent and superior ratings.  Individual vocal soloists also earning honors include:

Olivia Oetting, Jenna Ripke, Trevor Bohlender, Tyler Nicholas.  Ten students were also selected to participate in an honor choir for Concordia University’s Annual Fine Arts Celebration held at the Lied Center.

The development of all this musical talent begins in our middle school!  The 6th Grade Choir and 7th-8th Grade Choir each earned blue ribbons at Concordia’s “Gathering of the Talents”. A number of individual soloists also received top ratings at Concordia and the Malcolm Middle School Music Festival.  Tanner Bohlender, Clara Rich and Emily Swearer were selected through audition for the Heartland Middle School Honor Choir hosted by the University of Nebraska in Omaha.

Our vocal music department also partnered with our drama department to present “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” …a truly amazing experience!

We enthusiastically look forward to each new school year with a desire to “Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things!”
