Lincoln Lutheran's Top Selling Books

Miss Carr's 7th grade English class created some pretty awesome pieces of writing this year. One such recognizable piece was a handmade children's book, completed in the spring. Students worked in groups of 2-4 to re-create a biblical account (of their choosing) in a modern setting, for an elementary audience. After two weeks of hard work the students traveled next door to Trinity Lutheran elementary school and presented their books to the 2nd-5th grade classes. This opportunity was one of great enjoyment for both parties.

7th Grade visit to Trinity

The 7th graders had worked for two weeks on creating a children’s book in small groups. Inspiration was drawn from a favorite Biblical account and re-told in a more modern setting.

Reading Challenge Accepted!

Over the course of the year, Miss Kelly’s Eighth Grade English class received an Independent Reading Challenge of reading 30 books each this school year!

Besides their three whole-class books, that meant they would need to finish around seven to eight books a quarter. This challenge seemed insurmountable on the first day of school when they entered the classroom. However, the 52 eighth graders in Miss Kelly’s class have read a total of 211 books in the short span of about three months!
