Middle School Science Fair Approaches

Over the past months, seventh and eighth graders have been busy creating science fair projects. Fingerprints have been analyzed, memories have been tested, and baseball has been turned into physics. Students have hypothesized, manipulated variables, recorded results, and come to conculsions. They have experimented with digestion rates, oxidation, and stroop effect. Creativity, strategic planning and careful testing have gone into these projects, and after months of work, the competition is near.

On Saturday, February 13, students will set up their projects in the small gym. The next day, these seventh and eighth graders will be thinking about more than their Valentines. They will be wondering what the judges decide. After a day of judging, the Science Fair will be open to the public on Monday from 9-4pm and on Tuesday from 7:30-3pm. The students will take their projects home on Tuesday. Select students will be invited to districts in Crete on March 6. Last year, two Lincoln Lutheran students were not only invited to districts, but even advanced to state, creating high hopes for this year as well.

Ms. Francee Bailey

A new face you may have seen around Lincoln Lutheran is sixth grade teacher Frances Bailey. She goes by Francee Bailey or more commonly Miss Bailey and she is from Palatine, IL. She attended Palatine High School and then went on to attend Concordia University in Wisconsin.

Miss Bailey decided to come to Lincoln Lutheran becuase she felt the Lord was calling her and she wanted to see what Husker football was all about! This is her first teaching job and she is loving it.

She teaches social studies, math and science. Her favorite memories of being at Lincoln Lutheran so far include the Sixth Grade Retreat, becoming closer with the staff, and just teaching the "amazing" sixth graders. She plans to help out with girls middle school basketball as an assistant coach.

Miss Bailey loves having the chance to watch her students grow in multiple ways. She says coming to Lincoln Lutheran each day is a joy and she looks forward to teaching students who in turn tech her to be a better person.
