Mr. Sommerer has a new shadow

There are three new faces walking through the halls of Lincoln Lutheran. They are the new student teachers. One is Mr. Spiering who is student teaching with Mr. Sommerer.

Mr. Spiering came to Nebraska from Waterloo, Iowa. He has attended three different colleges. First he went to Iowa State, then he went to the University of Northern Iowa, and finally he currently attends Concordia in Seward. He decided to become a teacher because he feels that teachers are born to be teachers, so this is what he was born to do.

A Student Teacher for Mrs. Willet

     Lincoln Lutheran has had many student teachers over the years, but this semester, Lincoln Lutheran got a first, an art teacher. Miss Onions is a student of Concordia University, Seward, studying art and secondary education. She is spending her semester helping with Mrs. Willet's classes. Miss Onions is from Kansas City. She decided to become an art teacher because she felt God was calling her to do so, and Lincoln Lutheran is blessed to have her.

End of First Quarter - Final Quarter Grades

October 21 is the last day of the First Quarter.  Given the availability of student grades on PowerSchool and the cost of postage, we have decided not to mail First Quarter Report Cards, except on parent request.  Final First Quarter grades will be available on PowerSchool Tuesday, October 26.  Please notify the Lincoln Lutheran office if you want a Report Card mailed home.

Quiz Bowl Team Wins Championship!

Five Lady Warriors competed in the Young Women's Quiz Bowl on Wednesday, Sept 22, in Seward and buzzed away with the trophy.  Competing against 15 other teams, the Warriors were seeded second going into the tournament but knocked off the number 1 seed, Osceola, 90 to 50 in the championship round.  Competing for Lincoln Lutheran were seniors Kara Einspahr and Adrienne Langewisch, juniors Kaitlyn Leymaster and Anna Chatwell and freshman Emmiline Moll.  Mrs. Pam Langewisch served as coach.  Way to go, Warrior women!

National Political Party Reps to discuss issues at Lincoln Lutheran

On September 16, Vince Powers, a national comitteman for the Democractic Party, and Mark Fahleson, Nebraska Republican Party Chairman, will be on the Lincoln Lutheran campus to discuss politics and political ideology with the senior government class.  As part of Lincoln Lutheran's efforts to prepare students for college and life, the goal of this discussion is to create awareness and interest in public service, politics, and the role Christiian citizens can play in the issues of today and the future.

Warriors take Fifth at State Fair!

The Lincoln Lutheran High School Quiz Bowl team recently tied for fifth place (out of fifteen teams entered) at the Nebraska State Fair Quiz Bowl.  The team was made up of four seniors - Kara Einspahr (Captain), Adrienne Langewisch, Rachel Royuk, and Taylor Katt.  Senior Keaton Klein also practiced with the team but was unable to compete due to the unexpected Heaven-going of his grandfather.  Exchange student Bergljot Stromsbo Gjorv of Kristiansand, Norway, served as the alternate.  The team defeated Seward A & B, but lost to York and then Sam Wilton of Centennial in the semi-finals.  Sponsor Pam Langewisch said she was proud of how everyone on the team contributed.
