JV Volleyball Team Update

The JV group has had a rollercoaster ride thus far this season.  They have showed us that they all are very talented and have the ability to make great plays.  Inconsistent play has been the only thing holding this group back.  Consistency can be difficult to accomplish with this group due to players that are swinging between varsity and reserve teams as well creating many different combinations of players from game to game.  Look for great things to come out of this group.

Varsity Volleyball Team

The Varsity team is doing well.  We are seeing improvement from each individual and that is great to see.  Our serving and defensive %, overall, is the best it's been.  The team connects well on and off the court, however, consistency is an issue with this group.  Their play becomes very up and down.  It is important to maintain momentum in a set and this is a struggle right now.  They need to learn to be consistent in the tough matches.  Most of our losses this season have stemmed from our unforced errors.  As a whole, it is encouraging because these are things that can be controlled, but it can be frustrating for the girls (and the coaches) since these particular errors are preventable.

The coaches are pleased with the effort each athlete is showing in all aspects of the game.  It has been a fun season so far.  October is a busy month for our varsity group and if they just keep at it October could turn out to be a successful month, too!  Great job ladies.

Reserve Volleyball Team

The Lincoln Lutheran Reserves Volleyball Team is having a fantastic season this year. In case you are unaware, the Reserves team is composed of athletes that did not make the JV or Varsity teams this year, but have the skills and potential to compete at a higher level in the future. The Reserve record is eight wins, two losses. Those wins include two victories against Class-A schools: Lincoln Southwest and Lincoln High. Leaders in stats include Kayla Stock with 21 aces, 13 kills, Five blocks and 13 digs; Hannah Dull with 21 kills and seven blocks; Hannah Oberle with 25 aces, 10 digs and 84 assists; Solveig Bratlie with seven kills; Hannah Husted with four kills, and Ashlee Ernst with 17 kills and 13 aces and 11 digs.  This past weekend, the Reserves took second place at the Lincoln Lutheran Invitational Tournament.
