The Fourth Annual Student Council Blood Drive

The Lincoln Lutheran Student Council's fourth annual blood drive was held on Wednesday, April 21st.  Student Council partners with the American Red Cross each spring to allow the Lincoln Lutheran community to give blood.  This year over 50 units were donated to the Red Cross.  Each unit has the potential to save three lives, so this April, Lincoln Lutheran saved 150 lives.

Overall the drive was a success, despite frigid conditions, long lines, and donating in the midst of a long week.  This year only one person fainted and only a few have reported bruises!  The Red Cross workers were very happy at the stamina of the donators.  Stu-Co President Lauren Hohbein said, "The drive this year was very successful, and I am thankful for all of the people who came out to donate blood!"  Next year, Stu-Co hopes to once again host a blood drive with the Red Cross, but in the meantime they encourage people to give blood at other Red Cross drives or at the Community Blood Cross.  They crucially need blood right now!

Upcoming Student Council Elections!

Ever feel there is something you want to change about the school or wonder if there is a way you can bring your fresh ideas to the school? Well there is a way. Running for Student Council is a great way at Lincoln Lutheran to meet new people and to become involved in your school. If this sounds interesting, keep reading.

The elections for officers will be held Friday May 7th with the application being due Tuesday May 4th. To be an officer on Student Council you must have served on the high school Student Council for at least one year. There are four officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Publicist. The elections for class representatives will be held the week after, so the application will be due Tuesday May 11th with elections being held on Friday May 14th. There will be three representatives elected to each class. There are no requirements to become a class representative, only that you have a passion for helping the school and are able to attend meetings at 7:10 every Thursday.

Student Council Helps Plan National Lutheran Schools Week

The Student Council has started to plan the activities for National Lutheran Schools Week, beginning with the kick-off day on March 7th.

Student Council has Big Plans for Christmas

The student council, in the last meeting, decided on their upcoming plans for this Christmas. The plans will include a chapel, done by the entire council in mid December, an angel tree, and a Christmas caroling project. Though the chapel is not planned out yet the council is excited to share the Christmas story with Lincoln Lutheran and they are excited to share a bit of the Christmas spirit with the kids at the Friendship home and the residents at Eastmont Towers.

Thanksgiving Turkeys for Sale

The high school and middle school Student Councils will be selling paper turkeys for $1 until Monday, 11/23.  When you purchase one, you write those things for which you are thankful on it and it will be added to the sign in the main entranceway.  All profits will be donated to the Lutheran Food Pantry. See Miss Bockelman for more details.

Student Council Creates Big Plans for the Upcoming Weeks

The student council's agenda ranges from problems in the school, to service, and to overall representation of the school and council. To better cover these topics the officers each picked a topic they enjoy and are passionate about and chose a committee to support them. The four groups are service, school issues, publicity, and stu-co team building. After the first meeting in the groups many ideas and projects were planned.

Student Council Starts off Year Strong

The student council started off the year with planning homecoming. The student council is in charge of homecoming court, hallway decorating, and the dance. The theme this year for homecoming was Final Destination. Each class rep chose a vacation destination to decorate their hallway and the council chose the dance them to be a Caribbean destination. The student council felt the week was very successful and fun and was a good representation of our school spirit. Now they are excited to concentrate on future activities.
