Day of Singing

Day of Singing is an annual choral workshop and hymn festival that takes place at St. John Seward on Saturday October 11th.  Many area middle school students gather for an enriching day of singing and worship centered in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Organizers Paul Soulek and Betsy Werner came to Lincoln Lutheran to promote this event and encourage our students to attend this year.

Mr. Michael Werner

Mr. Werner began teaching at Lincoln Lutheran in 2014. He and his wife Bethany are happy to serve at a school that is near family. Prior to Lincoln, the two lived in Louisville, Kentucky where Mr. Werner taught middle school band and Bethany served as a DCE for Our Savior Lutheran Church. Being brought up in Lutheran education, Michael is proud to serve the church as a teacher just like the rest of his family. Michael is also proudly the only Concordia University Chicago graduate on staff.

Lincoln Lutheran Music Department Prepares For Christmas

By Rachel Meinke

Local radio stations aren’t the only ones playing Christmas tunes this season. Walk by the Lincoln Lutheran music room and you’ll hear ensembles hard at work for the upcoming Christmas performances. The middle school Christmas concert will be on December 11th in the main gym, and the high school Christmas concert will be held on December 13th at Lincoln Lutheran in the small gym.

Middle School Sings like Angels

The middle school performed well at their Christmas Concert on the 13th this month. Throughout the evening the audience was in a trance, and music filled the air. The sixth grade started the evening out with a few songs; Three Polish Carols was definitely the audience’s favorite from the band. There was even a clarinet ensemble of six children, and they played a beautiful arrangement of Hark, the Herald Angels Sing. The crowd was very impressed with the talent showed in the young musicians. The sixth grade choir sang the popular song Do You Hear What I Hear.

HS Band and Choir Plans for 2012 Tour

The kids planning to go have already started raising funds by selling an assortment of frozen foods and treats from Deli International. The band also designed some Warrior sweatpants for all the musicians to sell.
