Your Warrior Speech Team competed at Districts this Saturday in Schuyler. While the judging was questionable at times and left 2 deserving groups out of State contention, the OID group of Natalie Griesse, Jenna Karlin, Taylor Katt, and Lyz Kuhn were awarded with a trip to State. Not only did this group place, it bested powerhouse Waverly and took Champion OID! The OID group of Matthew Eames, Tori Miller and Tyler Nicholas made it to finals and took 4th overall. The Duet Act of Tanner Bohlender and Andrew Malan also placed in finals, missing a shot at State by 2 points. They took 4th. And, placing for the first time in finals - Jordan Lewis who took 5th. Several members received their first superior ratings in this meet: Katie Rathje and CW Stoneman. These two, plus Lyz Kuhn and Elisa Hutchinson and the duet act of Victoria Kenow and Hannah Bell, took 4th in their rounds just missing finals placement. Ben Kunz, Sara Mach and Spencer Farley had strong performances, too.
Every sports team has a chance at state, but it wasn’t until three years ago that Nebraska finally held a State dance team competition. Lincoln Lutheran’s dance team has been successful, bringing home second place titles both years, more than any sports teams those years. This year, the team of 15 brought two dances to the competition- One Night In Bangkok, for the high kick division, and Play My Music, for the pom division. The team left for the competition at one in the afternoon, and the award ceremonies weren’t until 9:30 at night. “It was a long, tiring, rewarding day,” said sophomore Anne Heibel.

On Friday, Ms. Wisroth gave a enlightening chapel, comparing the T.V. show Dirty Jobs to the one dirty job that Chirst did for us. Christ died for our sins so that we don't have to do the dirty job of working for repentance. Ms. Wisroth spoke about how on one episode of Dirty Jobs the host Mike Rowe, became a chimney sweep. After a day on the dirty job Mike couldn't get clean, even after showering. Fortunately for Christians even though we constantly sin, we can always be washed clean because of what Christ has done for us. Christ did our dirty job and because of that we can live clean. During the season of Lent it is an especially good time to remember the struggles Christ went through as as human, and the suffering and criticism he faced.
It's getting closer to our second Middle School Fun Night, and we would like to thank everyone who helps make these nights successful and also to say thank you to everyone who has expressed their appreciation for the fun nights. This year, our second Fun Night is march 5th:
On Friday, Febuary 12 the Warriors boys varsity basketball team played the Fairbury Jeffs. Defense led the Warriors in the first half to gain a lead of 28-21. The third quarter went pretty even with the Warriors leading 38-34. The fourth quarter provided some excitment as the Jeffs were able to take the lead until senior Alex Klein hit two free throws to give the Warriors a 1 point lead with 4.9 seconds left. A reach-in foul by the Warriors on a huge mental lapse allowed Fairbury to take a one point lead with 1 second left and the momentum of the game was completely shifted. Alex Klein was fouled on the inbounds play and hit a free throw to send the game in overtime. A quick three give Fairbury a lead and they never looked back. Fairbury went on to win 53-55.
Senior Connor Shelton led the Warriors in scoring with 12 points. Junior Eric Beckman was the other Warrior to score double digits, with 10 points. Senior Alex Klein had three big free throws and contributed 7 points to round out the top scorers for the Warriors.
