As promised, Friday, June 4th was a beautiful summer day and just perfect for a golf outing. The 15th Annual Lincoln Lutheran Middle/High School Golf Classic was described as being a wonderful day for fellowship, support for the school, and a great day to have fun. 20 teams gathered at Yankee Hill Country Club for a lunch donated by Ideal Grocery and Market, putting and chipping contests, and a shot gun start at noon. The afternoon concluded with an awards reception at 5pm with social time and appetizers provided by Yankee Hill.
MEDICATIONS……If you currently have medications in the nurse’s office, you will need to pick them up and take them home on your LAST day of school. If you do not pick them up, they will be donated to the City Mission for their free clinic. We will not hold meds over until next year. Thank you.
There is a trumpet and a pair of glasses that were found these last days of school. If you think you might be missing these items, please contact the school at 467-5404 or stop by.
Twenty Lincoln Lutheran students built websites this semester as part of the class Multimedia Applications. Starting from scratch, students learned HTML tags and used them to create a website on the topic of their choice. Topics varied widely, ranging from Camp Luther to Helthy Snacks to Warrior Basketball. You can see all twenty websites at www.llstudents.org.
In the past we've used the free service Geocities to build student websites, but after Geocities closed last summer we had to try something else. Having an actual domain name and using an FTP program to move files has made the whole experience very realistic. Students were excited at the number of people who visited their websites.
Students who have an interest in designing websites can take the semester long class Website Design where we go through each step of creating a working, interactive website. From picking a domain name and hosting company to deciding on a content management system, all aspects of running a website are covered. Website Design class is only offered every other semester, so plan ahead.
The 2010 Shrine High School Soccer Classic will be held this year June 10-12 at Hastings College. Coach Nathan Bassett will be Head Coach of the boys north team. Adrian Zieg and Marcus Gubanyi were selected to participate in this event, but unfortunately Marcus will not be able to attend. Kayla Asche was also selected on the girls team. Congratulations to Mr. Bassett and these players.
