Warriors lose a Heartbreaker to Fairbury in Overtime

On Friday, Febuary 12 the Warriors boys varsity basketball team played the Fairbury Jeffs. Defense led the Warriors in the first half to gain a lead of 28-21. The third quarter went pretty even with the Warriors leading 38-34. The fourth quarter provided some excitment as the Jeffs were able to take the lead until senior Alex Klein hit two free throws to give the Warriors a 1 point lead with 4.9 seconds left. A  reach-in foul by the Warriors on a huge mental lapse allowed Fairbury to take a one point lead with 1 second left and the momentum of the game was completely shifted. Alex Klein was fouled on the inbounds play and hit a free throw to send the game in overtime. A quick three give Fairbury a lead and they never looked back. Fairbury went on to win 53-55.

Senior Connor Shelton led the Warriors in scoring with 12 points. Junior Eric Beckman was the other Warrior to score double digits, with 10 points. Senior Alex Klein had three big free throws and contributed 7 points to round out the top scorers for the Warriors.
