School Nutrition Program

Introduction

Our school nutrition program's purpose is to meet the nutritional needs of students to better prepare them for learning. Our objectives are to serve nutritious, balanced and attractive meals and to encourage healthy lifestyles.

We participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) which was established under the National School Lunch Act, signed by PresidentHarry Truman in 1946. The program celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2006. It is a federally assisted meal program operating in more than 94,000 public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care instructions. It provides a nutritional balanced, low-cost or free lunch to more than 26 million children each day.

Hot Lunch

Hot Lunches cost $2.30 per meal for students. We offer several healthy choices everyday. Students may choose the mainline, grab-n-go meals or salad meals. A variety of soups are also offered daily. All come with a choice of milk.

Offer vs. Serve

Lunches are divided into 5 components; fluid milk, entree, fruit, vegetable and grains/bread. The meal is sold as a package and students are encouraged to take all 5 but may take only 3.

Ala carte

We have an extensive line of baked chips, granola bars, fruit snacks, ice cream, water, fruit juice and a 100% fruit juice slushy.

Brown Bags

Sack lunches are available form the kitchen for off site sports and activities. Order forms are available from the coaches or activities sponsors.

Lunch Statements

Lunch statements are available online through www.MyNutriKids.com. You need to know your child's lunch ID in order to sign up. A complete Nutrikids.com handbook is also available. Statements are no longer mailed home unless requested. Lunch accounts are expected to be current. Students with a negative balance are not allowed to purchase any ala carte items.
