Michelle Metzger began teaching here at Lincoln Lutheran in 1997. Her previous teaching experience was at Trinity-St. John’s Lutheran School in Nashville, Illinois. Miss Metzger grew up on a farm near Bancroft, Nebraska with her older sister and her two younger brothers. She later attended Concordia University in Seward, NE and got her degree in Education. After that, she attended University of Nebraska in Lincoln and got her Master’s degree in Math and Statistics. She returned to her home state to teach math here at Lincoln Lutheran. She missed the Nebraska snow and just being close to her home. Now, not only is she a teacher here, she is the head basketball coach for the high school girls basketball team. Her favorite thing about being a teacher and coach here is the students she gets to be around. Her favorite thing to do with her free time is to get outside and be active, including an enjoyment of activities like rock climbing and hiking.
Lincoln Lutheran has been introduced to a few new members of their staff this year. Matthew Haden is one of those new members. Mr. Haden previously taught at Winnetonka High School in Kanas City, Missouri. He is a proud Concordia-Seward Alumnus. He attended Aurora High School and did cross country there. He has one brother who currently attends Wesleyan. He is proudly married to his spouse Linsey and has one daughter, Adelyn. His favorite sport is cross country.
Mr. Haden currently teaches math at the high school level, in particular, Algebra 1 and 2 and Pre-Algebra. He is also a junior class sponsor at Lincoln Lutheran. He enjoys teaching math and is enjoying Lincoln Lutheran. It's always tough for a new teacher to adjust to a new place but he has fit in very well here at Lincoln Lutheran. He is Matthew Haden.
Lloyd Sommerer began teaching at Lincoln Lutheran in 2001. He graduated from college at Concordia, Seward with degrees in education and computer science. His first teaching position was in Washington D.C. where he taught seventh and eighth graders. Mr. Sommerer grew up on a small farm in Missouri where his family grew tobacco and had beef cattle. His family now consists of his wife Lauren and two cats. One of the cats is dumb and the other is mean. He came to Lincoln Lutheran because Mrs. Pester, a former Lincoln Lutheran middle school teacher, told him that Lincoln Lutheran was looking for a math teacher. Everything he was teaching in D.C. was the same thing at Lincoln Lutheran, even one of the same books. He believes that it is a God thing that he is here today. His favorite part of teaching at Lincoln Lutheran is that he gets to do a lot of different things and there are some really neat students. Besides teaching, he also is the technology coordinator and the Fantasy Baseball Commissioner, which he considers his most important role. In his free time he reads books, works on websites, and plays video games.
