Can students use devices with cellular data connections?

It is against Lincoln Lutheran’s Technology Acceptable Use Policy for students to setup a wi-fi hotspot using their cell phone or other cellular device. There are two reasons for this:

  • Ad-hoc data networks (hot spots) degrade the quality of Lincoln Lutheran’s own wi-fi network.
  • Cellular data is unfiltered.

Having said that, it is not against Lincoln Lutheran’s Acceptable Use Policy for students to use their own cellular data. Parents should be aware that it is unfiltered and expensive compared to students using Lincoln Lutheran’s wi-fi.
