Who will qualify for the scholarship devices and how will their qualification be determined?

We realize it is a big sacrifice for many families to send their children to Lincoln Lutheran. We have committed to providing or helping to provide students that have the greatest need with a  device. The eligibility for these “scholarship” devices will be determined by using the Federal  Free and Reduced Lunch Guidelines and by using the amount of Lincoln Lutheran financial aid awarded using the FACTS process in the following manner:

  • Families must apply for financial aid through FACTS to qualify for a scholarship device.
  • All students wishing to be considered for a scholarship device must complete the Device Scholarship Application (when it is available).
  • Students who qualify for Federal Free Lunch will be eligible for a scholarship device with no payment required. The device will meet the Lincoln Lutheran device requirements.
  • Students who qualify for Federal Reduced Lunch will be eligible for a scholarship device at half the lease rate. The family may choose which device they lease.
  • Families who do not qualify for Federal Free and Reduced Lunch but qualify for Lincoln Lutheran financial aid will qualify for a scholarship device at a rate equal to the percentage of the financial aid award compared to the total tuition obligation of the family. The family may choose which device they lease.

For families who do not qualify for Federal Free or Reduced Lunch, or qualify for Lincoln Lutheran financial aid, we have done two things:

  1. Committed to making low cost devices part of our 1:1 Learning Initiative. Several of the recommended devices cost less than $200. Stores will often offer 0% financing of electronic devices for 6-18 months. 9to5Toys is a website that lists current sales on tablets, laptops, and assorted other electronic devices.
  2. Provided leasing options. We anticipate leasing iPads for $23, $19, and $14 per month.
