Middle School Latework Policy
PurposeThe purpose of our late work policy is to assist our students in getting their assignments in on time. By implementing a middle school late work policy that is consistent among all middle school teachers, we are striving to eliminate confusion for our students, hold them accountable for completing work in a timely manner and, hopefully, teach them to be more responsible for their work. Ultimately, we want them to experience success. It is our desire for our students to stay on track with all their classes and to realize their greatest potential. PolicyIf homework is not turned in the day it is due, the student will fill out a Late Work Form for his/her parent to sign, and it should be returned to school the following day along with the late assignment. If the student does not turn in the homework and/or the Late Work Form the next day, he or she will be required to spend 45 minutes (3:30-4:15) in “9th Period” under the supervision of a teacher. This will be the policy until the work is completed and turned in to the respective teacher. If the homework is completed during the 9th period the student must still serve the remainder of the 9th period. Students may also receive a grade penalty at the teacher's discretion. If a student is continuously required to work in 9th period, he or she will be required to attend a parent/teacher conference and sign an academic contract. Additional Information
