How to: choose a topic
Choosing TopicsNo matter what type of content you want to add to the website, you have to decide what topic it falls under. Topics are arranged in a hirarchy, and when deciding what topic to use it is very important that you choose the most specific topic possible. For example, if you are adding pictures from a football game, you would choose Middle School Football rather than Football, assuming, of course, that it was a middle school football game. There are many topics from which to choose, and they are generally arranged under the following major categories:
Most of these also have subcategories, and Activities has dozens of topics under it. If you cannot find a topic that works for your content, you can use the Lincoln Lutheran topic. This is the most general, and because of that, the least useful topic. If you find yourself using Lincoln Lutheran as the topic frequently, you should contact Mr. Sommerer and see if a more specific topic will work or to suggest that a new, more specific topic be added. Multiple TopicsIt is also possible to pick multiple topics. If, for instance, you are adding content about a football game where the band is playing at halftime, you can select the first item normally, then to select the second (and third...) items you hold down the ctrl key on a PC while clicking on the next topic or hold down the command/apple key on a Macintosh while clicking on the next topic. Note that if you are selecting two topics that are the only topics under a main topic (HS Football and MS Football for instance) then you should select the main topic instead of both subtopics. |
