Through a Reading/Writing Workshop, students explore various genres in reading and writing, focusing on Figurative Language, Literary Elements, and the Traits of Writing. Students will begin researching and learning how to find credible sources from the internet. Grammatically, the 7th grade focuses on organization, transitions and flow, sentence structure and verb tense. Seventh grade units will focus on the following main topics: Place consciousness: establishing oneself as a reader and writer; Relationships: Relation to each other, and relation to the world; Conflict and Resolution; Illegal Immigration; and The Holocaust. Current titles include Worth by A. LaFaye, Lupita Manana by Patricia Beatty, and The Boy and the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne.
