Art classes in the Middle School are exploratory tracks offering a wide variety of activities and mediums in the major categories of drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics and printmaking. The art program follows a discipline-based approach that incorporates art history, appreciation, aesthetics and production in the study of art. These courses are intended to develop the student’s creativity and critical thinking capabilities, to improve the student’s technical/motor abilities through art production, and to develop an appreciation and understanding of art through the study of other cultures, artists and eras.
