Instructors:
Mr. Nathan Bassett

In 7 th grade Social Studies, we will be looking at the very beginnings of our country. Who populated and cultivated this land first? What spurred European exploration? Why did the thirteen colonies break away from England? These and other questions will be answered as we journey through our country’s birth and make our way to the Civil War that nearly tore us apart. We will learn about the events and people that shaped and influenced U.S. foreign policy, internal matters, struggles, and triumphs during the time period from earliest record to 1860. Once a week, we will be looking specifically at current events in our nation. In this we will be discussing facts and opinions, and comparing the events of today with some that already make up our history. We will also be looking at a different state each week. We will widen our regional views and be more
