The Lady Warriors volleyball team has had a great start to the season. This past weekend, October 2-4, our Warriors competed in the Ashland-Greenwood Tourney. The brackets consisted of four teams each. The teams that attended were Ashland-Greenwood, Fillmore Central, Lincoln Lutheran, Wahoo, Platteview, Plattsmouth, Fairbury, and Omaha Roncalli Catholic.

The Warriors went up against Wahoo and Fairbury on Thursday night. The first match against Wahoo was a fun-filled, eventful one. The Warriors pushed but the Wahoo Warriors were too much. Lutheran fell 22-25 and 22-25 both games.

The next game was a later one against Fairbury. The Lady Warriors had previously defeated the Lady Jeffs at their last tournament at Malcolm. However, the Lady Jeffs came out strong. After the 8th point, Lutheran pulled ahead with the help of a serving run by Amanda Kisker and a few good rallies. The Warriors pulled out yet another win against the Jeffs in two games. The ending scores were 25-8 and 25-25.

After a day of rest, the Lady Warriors were ready for the last day of the tournament. Lutheran began the day with a defeat over Fillmore Central. The Warriors were able to pull away with another serving run by Emma Hybl. The ending scores were 25-9 and 25-21. Next was Ashland-Greenwood, who the Lady Warriors had also defeated before at the Malcolm Tournament. The team had its ups and downs but managed a win to get to the finals. The Ashland-Greenwood scores were 25-17, and 25-22.

The last game of the tourney was the Championships and this game would be played against Wahoo once again. The Warriors fought hard but Wahoo gained a one game lead with a 26-24 win. The second game was a more exhilarating one with the Warriors fighting hard coming out with a 25-23 gain. Now all tied up, both teams wanting it, the third and final game was an interesting one. With the Warriors trailing 3-15, Warriors needed a run. The points went back and forth but with game point standing for Wahoo, Lutheran made somewhat of a comeback. However, the Lady Warriors fell to the Wahoo Warriors 20-25.

The second tourney of the season for the Warrior volleyball team went well. With a second place finish, no one could be disappointed. The Varsity volleyball team matches up with Wahoo once again on Tuesday on the home court. Congrats on the finish Warriors!
