All LL music groups perform in Fall Sampler Concert

The fall music concert took place on Monday, November 8. The night started off with a successful soup supper put on by the music department. There was a free-will offering for the soup dinner and the delicious cookies afterwards that the music department to help purchase two marching bass drums, concert tom-toms and percussion hardware and instrument stands. The concert featured all the middle school and high school music groups.

The middle school choir and band kicked off the night with some great pieces. The choirs sang a few songs including "My Lord" and "Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho." The band performed "Mystic Dance" and "For Spacious Skies very well."

After the middle school performances the high school choir was next, this year with a new director, Mr. Scott Morris. He did an excellent job leading the choir through an array of difficult songs including an 8 part piece "Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal" The choir also sang "Lord Listen to Your Children Praying" with the accompaniment of Rachel Royuk on the trumpet, Brent Royuk on bass, Colleen White on tenor sax, Jackson Stoneman on drums and Cheryl Judds on piano.

The high school band followed with their symphonic band piece "Prelude and Fughetta." The band then went on to play “More Cowbell” marching band show; "I Can’t Get No Satisfaction, Don’t Fear the Reaper and We’re an American Band." The band ended the night on a great note to the tune of the Lincoln Lutheran fight song.

Overall, the concert was a hit. All six music groups had great performances and managed to raise some money to improve the music department. And thanks to all the parents who put on a delicious soup supper.
