HS Girls Soccer

The Lady Warriors started their season on Saturday, March 19, with a tough loss to York in the first round of the tournament. Junior Makayla Ptaschek scored the only goal for the girls in the first half. The Lady Warriors faced some challenges in the second half with the harsh conditions of wind and rain, and York tied the game 1-1. Going straight into a shoot out, the Lady Warriors lost with a final score of 2-1. In the second round, the Lady Warriors stepped it up to win with a victory of 6-0 against Nebraska Lutheran-Waco. Junior Kelly Sanchez scored the first goal for the Lady Warriors. Following that, sophomore Chelsea Naber scored late in the first half. Coming out of the gate in the second half, Sanchez, freshman Payton Hedlund, junior Hayley Majorins, and senior Emily Metschke stepped it up to score one each in the second half.

With a full season ahead, the Lady Warriors press forward looking for the goal to head to State. The theme of the season this year is "Remember the Name," which represents the seniority because there are thirteen seniors this year who have dedicated a lot of time and effort into the program.  The theme also reminds the girls for whom they play. Hopefully with all the talent this year and hard work put into practice, it will pay off in their record and in districts. Coach Dave Gosselin is excited to continue playing games and show off the hard work put into practices. The only thing the Warriors can do is learn from the past and look forward to push into the future.
