2011 Distinguished Young Alumni Award - Jill Fiddler

Jill Fiddler

Jill Fiddler is a 1999 graduate of Lincoln Lutheran High School, and states that her time at LL helped her strive for three major goals: excellence, balance and Christ.

“First, I owe a lot to my teachers at Lincoln Lutheran because my educational experience was extremely challenging and rewarding. Being a small school, Lincoln Lutheran also provided me the opportunity to participate in multiple activities. Staying active in sports, band, and other groups forced me to be focused and taught me how to maintain balance. Finally, my experience at a Christian school helped me grow as a believer and to build confidence in my faith.  Lincoln Lutheran gave me the opportunity to make faith a part of every aspect of my life.  It was not something that turned off when I left chapel, but something that surrounded me. That was an invaluable lesson that I strive to incorporate into my life today.”

Following her time at LL, Jill went on to attend UNL. She graduated in 2003 with High Distinction, Phi Beta Kappa. Jill then attended the University of Nebraska College of Law, graduating in 2006 (Jurisdoctorate, Distinction, Law Review). She is a Business & Real Estate Attorney for Woods & Aitkin Law Firm in Lincoln.

Jill is the daughter of Joe and Judy Weyand. Jill and her husband Lee have been blessed with two boys, Kolt (4 ½) and Kruz (2 ½). They are members at Redeemer Lutheran Church, where Jill teaches Sunday School. Jill serves as a Trustee with the Lutheran Education Foundation. She also spent 3 years as the assistant volleyball coach for LL.

One of Jill’s favorite memories from Lincoln Lutheran includes winning the District Volleyball Tournament her senior year. However, what she remembers most clearly is the LL crowd gathering with the team to pray following the win “It was a memorable moment for me that captured one of the best parts about being a Lincoln Lutheran student: giving God the glory for all of our accomplishments.”
