Lincoln Lutheran Band Marches to the End of a Great Season

By Rachel Meinke

The Lincoln Lutheran marching band finished their season on October 13th at the Oxbow Marching Band Invitational in Ashland, NE. Out of the eleven marching bands competing, Lincoln Lutheran placed 2nd in total points and received a Superior rating.

Many marching band members felt it was their best effort of the year and they left everything on the field. “It was a great conclusion to an awesome four years of marching band,” said senior piccolo player Holly Atterbury. The weather only partially cooperated, with host Ashland-Greenwood High school unable to compete due to a large thunderstorm. With the competition ending early, the Lincoln Lutheran marching band was able to come back to Lincoln and celebrate their efforts with a stop at Dairy Queen.

The season, with a theme of British Invasion, entertained many and overall could only be called a success. Music was memorized, friendships were cultivated, and memories were made. The marching band would like to thank their parents for all of their support, the fans for cheering them on at all of their performances, and Mr. Morris for all of his hard work and dedication. The band now looks forward to a fun concert band season. Their next performance will be at the Christmas concert on December 13th.
