Congratulations Lady Warriors!

The Lincoln Lutheran Lady Warrior Soccer Team is State Bound!  The team defeated Norris with a score of 1-0 on a wintry May Day in Nebraska City, earning the team's first District Championship in the 12-year history of the program.  The only score of the game was earned with under two minutes to play in the first half, when junior Payton Hedlund connected with a corner kick from junior Brianne Schluckebier to send the ball into the goal.  In the second half, the team survived a scare early in the half when Norris was awarded a penalty kick.  Thanks to the quick reaction of junior goalkeeper Tara Ziegelbein, the attempt was unsuccessful.  The Lady Warrior defense continued to ensure a shut-out, preventing any scores from the Norris attack.  It was truly a team effort as the Lady Warriors played one of their strongest and most unified games of the season, despite the wet and chilly weather conditions.

Congratulations Ladies on making it to State!  State playoffs begin Friday, May 10.  The Lady Warriors will play at 9am at Creighton University.  See you at the state tournament.
