2013 Distinguished Young Alumni Award - Mark Duitsman

Mark Duitsman

Mark Duitsman is a 1998 graduate of Lincoln Lutheran High School. When asked how his education at Lincoln Lutheran prepared him for what he is doing now, Mark said: “The education I received at Lincoln Lutheran, and more importantly the teachers and coaches who delivered that education, instilled principles and a foundation that have helped me spiritually, personally, and  professionally. I frequently find myself calling upon the advice and lessons learned from the staff.”

Following his time at Lincoln Lutheran, Mark went on to attend Concordia University-Nebraska for his undergraduate studies, receiving a B.S. in Education. He then attended Concordia University-Irvine for his graduate work and received a Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration. He currently works at Lutheran High School-Parker Colorado as the Director of Athletic Development. Mark is the Head Girls Basketball coach and in 8 years has amassed a 131-51 coaching record, leading Parker Lutheran to a runner-up finish at the Colorado State Tournament in 2012.

Mark is the son of Don and Linda Duitsman. Mark and his wife Abbie have been married for nine years. They have two children, four year old daughter Lillian and two year old son Jackson.

These are Mark’s comments regarding his favorite memories from Lincoln Lutheran:  “I was honored to be a student during the initial years of the high school. It was an exciting time for the Lincoln Lutheran community as the ministry expanded. With each year there was more and more unchartered territory and I will always remember being a part of that experience. I love seeing how the high school has continued to develop and evolve, yet still feel so familiar and comfortable to those of us who were there when things were just getting started.”
