Middle School Lady Warriors Enjoy Success at C-Club

The Middle School A Team started strong and established a suffocating defense with wins over Concordia Omaha and West Point, outscoring their opponents 81-12. The championship game provided an opportunity to avenge a January Roundball Tournament loss to Christ, Norfolk. The Lady Warriors overcame a late deficit thanks in part to two clutch Hadley Volzke three-pointers to force overtime. In overtime, Leah Jurgens hit a free-throw with 2.8 seconds left to give the Warriors a 1 point victory and the championship. The team enjoyed a balance attack and was led in scoring for the weekend by Leah Jurgens with 30 points.  Abi Wohlgemuth and Hadley Volzke each chipped in 18 and Elayne Poppe and Lexie Kreizel both contributed 15 points. The A Team finished with an 8-4 overall record.

The B Team started off strong with a commanding 28-5 win over Kearney thanks to a strong defensive effort. In the second round, they fell to the eventual champions in St. Paul, Utica. The 3rd place game required some grit and determination to overcome the full-court trapping defense of Christ, Norfolk. After a slow start, the Warriors hit some late shots and clutch free-throws to pull away for a 24-11 victory and 3rd place finish. The team was led in their final game by Hannah Ernst with 7 points and Ella Schmidt and Grace Fahleson with 5 points apiece. The Warriors were led in scoring for the weekend by Sydney Wallace with 18 points. Charis Ovwigho also chipped in 14 and Alayna Bergt scored 13.
