Warriors VB win at Bill Marshall VB Classic

The Lincoln Lutheran Warriors volleyball team went 2-0 out at the Bill Marshall Volleyball Classic on Saturday as part of the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island. The triangular featured 3 of the top 5 Class C1 teams. The LL Warriors then defeated #5 ranked Omaha Concordia in 2 sets by scores of 25-16, 26-24, with a come from behind win in the second set. With the Warriors down 24-19, Erin Williams led the charge on the comeback with 7 straight serves! Marriah Buss had 18 kills, Hope Leimbach contributed 21 sets assists, Erin Williams had 13 digs, along with Paige Trutna’s 3 ace serves.

In the next match the #3 Warriors took on the #2 ranked Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders. The Warriors took set 1 with a score of 25-20. In set 2, the Crusaders fought back and won 25 -21. And after being down 5-0 and a time-out in set 3, the Warriors came back and rattled off 10 straight points, again behind the serves of libero Erin Williams. Lincoln Lutheran finished out the match winning 25 -13. Against GICC Marriah Buss had 22 kills, Hope Leimbach had 33 set assists, 4 kills, and 12 digs. Erin Williams and Paige Trutna each had 3 ace serves. Williams added 16 digs on defense and Abi Wohlgemuth and Hope Leimbach contributed 3 blocks. The Warriors are now 3-0 for the season and all 3 teams will be at Raymond Central on Tuesday.
