This course uses process writing, with continued focus on fluency, word choice, organization and creativity, to develop a more sophisticated writing skill set. It allows students to evaluate research and create/present ideas that are well-founded. Continued reading of challenging texts will generate writing in most units.

This course continues the development of process writing, with continued focus on fluency, word choice, organization and creativity. In addition, it begins to tap into the synthesis and analysis of ideas in a departure from strictly pathos or moralistic writing. The use of novels, both fiction and non-fiction, playwrights and the completion of five speeches will shape how students use their voice for a purpose.

This course emphasizes writing as a process, focusing on developing fluency, word choice, organization and creativity. It also provides an overview of all types of writing genres. The use of stories, poems, novels and playwrights will be used to generate theme-based student writing. The course will be an introduction to writing with voice and challenge ego-centric thinking.

Mrs. Rachel Jank

Mrs. Rachel Jank has been teaching at Lincoln Lutheran since 2009, after she graduated from Concordia University in Seward, NE with a B.S. in Education and a B.A. in English. She earned her Masters in English from UNL in the spring of 2014 after finishing her thesis on place consciousness and student choice in the English classroom. She loves teaching the students and working with her fellow faculty and staff at Lincoln Lutheran. Mrs.

Mrs. Lindsey Kowalke

Lindsey Kowalke began teaching at Lincoln Lutheran in the fall of 2007. She taught English and religion in the middle school, but has recently gone to part time as Lincoln Lutheran's media specialist.  Outside of school, she enjoys exercising, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
