Students explore how to provide safe and nutritional food for individuals and families. Students will apply skill preparing various baked and culinary food products, examine current food issues that affect the family and society, and explore multicultural differences in food choices.

In this class, students will continue to explore nutrition and making healthy food choices through a variety of learning experiences. Other concepts related to the work of the family will also be studied including child development, quilting and sewing.

 

Exploratory 7 FCS

This exploratory class will include several FCS concepts. Students will study the history of FCS and the work of the family. Other areas of study are nutrition, money management, laundry and sewing. Hands-on lab work is part of this class.

 

Sewing And Home Décor

In this course the student will learn about textiles, fabrics and design principle. Students with beginning or more advanced sewing abilities may take this class as basic skills will be practiced and new techniques learned. Clothing and home décor projects will be a part of this class. Cost of the projects will be the responsibility of the student. Specific choices that appeal to boys and girls will be offered.

Students examine how food is used by the body and explore how to provide safe and nutritional food for individuals and family. This includes food safety and sanitation, applying dietary guidelines in the selection and preparation of various foods, and cooperative food laboratory experiences.

Mrs. Julie Stahr

Julie Stahr began teaching at Lincoln Lutheran Middle/Senior High School in 2004. She previously taught at Irving Junior High and Waverly Junior High. Her favorite thing about teaching here is the great kids and the small size of our school. Mrs. Stahr grew up in Benkelman, NE with her mom, dad and two brothers, Jim and Mitch. She now lives in Lincoln with her husband, Greg. They have four children, Margeaux, Elke, Dane, and Quinn, and she has a grandson, Koston. Mrs.
