7th Grade Field Trip to Nebraska City

The 7th grade class had an exciting trip to Nebraska City on Friday, September 15.  Our 69 7th graders and their chaperones spent the morning exploring the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and the trails surrounding the area.

1st Annual History Bowl a Success!

On Saturday, April 26, eight, 7th grade history buffs met in the Lincoln Lutheran Media Center to duke it out, academically, for the chance to win the first annual American History Bowl.  There were four rounds, covering states and capitals, American presidents, major U.S. events, and recognition of famous American landmarks.  It was hard  fought, but the overall winning team consisted of Grant Donovan, Ian Kollipara, Jacob Meyer, and Jackson Oerman. Families cheered on both teams throughout the tournament!

Congressman Fortenberry visits Lincoln Lutheran

On October 18th, Congressman Jeff Fortenberry visited with Lincoln Lutheran seniors and government students. In town hall format, Congressman Fortenberry reminded students that the simple phrase "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, and that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" is the foundation of American government and thought, and the enduring political and philosophical legacy of the United States.

WWII European Tour

Informational meeting for the 2014 WWI Tour is open to all current 7th and 8th graders on will be on Tuesday, April 12 at 7pm in the commons. This meeting will focus on the actual tour, cost and payment plans, requirements for going and general foreign travel information. Look forward to seeing you there!
 

Mr. Bassett Awarded Fellowship

"Fund for Teachers" has awarded Mr. Nathan Bassett, Social Studies and Religion teacher at L.L., $5000 to cover travel and other expenses this summer for a trip to Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Boston to study colonial and revolutionary era history.

Paul Rusesabagina: A Rwandan Hero

On Wednesday, February 23, Mr. Joel Stoltenow organized an after school field trip to listen to Paul Rusesabagina speak about the genocide in Rwanda in 1994. The trip was open to everyone and a bus ride was provided to Doane College where the presentation was held. The event was very much enjoyed by the 20 or so people who attended from Lincoln Lutheran.

Stars Hockeys Tickets

The 8th graders are selling Stars hockey tickets to raise money for their annual social studies trip to the Liberty Memorial and WWI Museum in Kansas City, MO. They are $15 a piece and may be picked up by most Lincoln Lutheran 8th graders. The game is on January 15 against the Tri-City Storm. It is also a Runza promotional night! With Christmas coming, these tickets make great stocking stuffers or can be a fun family outting after the holidays. Make checks payable to "Lincoln Lutheran- 8th grade trip." The 8th graders will be selling the tickets from now until January 5.
