MS Girls BB Capture B Tourney Title and 3rd Place in A

The MS Girls had a strong showing at the Lincoln Lutheran tournament last weekend.  The A team lost a heart-breaker to Bishop Neuman by two points and recovered for a commanding victory over the St. John Foxes.  The Warriors were led in scoring by Elayne Poppe and Hadley Volzke, scoring a two game total of 25 and 14 points respectively.

The MS Lady Warriors split a pair of games with Fremont Bergan last night. The Warriors B outscored the Knights B team 34-17. Seven Warriors found their way into the scoring column led by Addi Ernstmeyer with 9 points and Alyana Bergt and Hadley Volzke with 6 apiece. In the A game, the Warriors overcame a double digit deficit and got as close as 4 points in the final minute of the game, but came up short yielding 26-32.  The Warriors were led in scoring by Leah Jurgens with 7 points and Hadley Volzke with 6.

Middle School Girls Basketball Finish 3rd

Congratulations to the Middle School Girls Basketball Team for their 3rd place finish at the Nebraska Lutheran Roundball Tournament this past weekend (Jan. 23-24) at Trinity Lutheran, Fremont.  The team finished 2-1 with victories over Grand Island and Battle Creek.  The Lady Warriors were just edged out by Norfolk 19-15 in the semi-final round.  The Lady Warriors won the team free-throw shooting contest.  Free-throw participants were Hadley Volzke, Addi Ernstmeyer, Lauren Stull, Lexie Kreizel and Leah Jurgens. Way to go Ladies!!!

Congrats MS Girls BB

Congratulations to the MS Girls Basketball Team earning 2 wins versus Malcolm on Thursday night.  The B team won 39-12 and the A team won 30-16. Congratulations! The A team is now 1-0. The B team is now 1-1.

M.S. Girls Basketball Update

Both A and B teams came up short in their recent games verses very good Fremont Bergan teams.  However, the B-team "rebounded" with an excellent 21-11 victory at home against St John-Seward.  There was great scoring balance among players in this contest:  Alayna Bergt had 5 points followed closely by four other teammates with 4 points apiece (Hannah Ernst, Elayne Poppe, Lexie Kreizel, Kassidy Johnson).  NOTE:  The competition vs St John did not include an A-game.

MS Girls B-Team loses to Malcolm

In spite of a fine effort, the middle school girls B-Team lost on the road at Malcolm last Thursday (January 22).

MS Girls Basketball Game Summaries

The middle school girls A-team basketball team opened its season on Thursday, January 22 with a loss on the road to a very formidable Malcolm squad.  The game was tied at the half but the young Warrior gals were unable to hang on in the second half.  Two days later, the girls played Seward St Johns in the first round of the annual Lutheran Roundball Tournament (this year hosted by St. John, Battle Creek).

MS Girls B-Team win season opener

The middle school girls B-team basketball team won their season-opener verses a salty St. Paul Utica team by the score of 20-18.  Impressive defense was great help executed by our young warriors.  Quotes from the girls regarding the game:  "It was fantastic!"  "It was awesome!"  "It was REALLY fun!"

Both the A & B teams are in action next Thursday, January 22 at Malcolm.

Congratulations MS girls basketball team!

Congratulations to the Lincoln Lutheran middle school girls basketball team for being selected as Nebraska's representative in the 2014 National Lutheran Basketball Tournament in Indiana.  The Warriors will join almost 50 other Lutheran school teams at this year's event, which is scheduled for March 27-30 at Valparaiso University.  This is the first national tournament appearance in school history for the middle school girls program.  Lincoln Lutheran became eligible for tournament selection by virtue of tournament championships at the Nebraska Lutheran Roun
