A Shutout by the Middle School Football Team

On Tuesday October 13th the Middle School football team took on Conestoga in the cold right here at Lincoln Lutheran.  Although there were poor conditions the Warriors ran the ball effectively, with great blocking by the offensive line.  They sealed their blocks when needed and ran all over the Conestoga defense.  The running backs had a hay day.  The players who got the carries included Jacob Eley, Eddy Merrill, Josh Leymaster, and Tyler Knapp.  Combined these boys scored many touchdowns.

The defense did just as well being led by their leader up front by Joel Ebert.  They held the Conestoga offense to 0 points in the shutout.  With all of this great effort the Warriors won 38-0, putting the Warriors at 3-1 for the year.  Their last game is against David City Aquinas on October 17th at 10:00 a.m. at David City.

Warriors Shut Out Rockets

On Tuesday, the Warriors of Lincoln Lutheran traveled to Syracuse to battle the Rockets and set the precedent for the 2009 middle school football season. From the Rockets’ opening kickoff to taking a knee while the last twenty-two seconds ticked away, the Warriors clearly demonstrated the theme for the year: His Level.

The Warriors received a short kick from the Rockets, Andrew Wendland curling around the ball at the 46 yard line to start the game.  From that point on, the offensive game belonged to the Warriors.  Receivers Tyler Knapp (#4) and Eddy Merrill (#18) both had several sweet receptions, including a touchdown pass to Knapp from quarterback Bailey Bliss (#9) early in the second quarter.  The tough, gritty work of the offensive line made these passes possible. Running backs Josh Leymaster (#40) and Jacob Eley (#21) ran under, around, and through the Rockets, using key blocks from their blockers.

Defensively, the Warriors dismantled the Rockets’ plays with intensity, leaving everything on the field.
