FCA Kickoff Meeting

There will be an FCA kickoff meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 14.  The FCA Huddle will begin with a breakfast and devotion at 7:30 am in room 00.  All high schoolers are welcome!

"Don't worry, be happy." ~ Bobby McFerrin

Isaiah 58:11- "The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail."

This is an extremely stressful season for students. Sports are picking up into the most important games and meets, homework is piled on, and finals are just around the corner. With stress comes worry. At the FCA meeting on Tuesday April 20, Laura Rasmussen gave an enlightening message to the students. One of the comments she had was that worrying is one of the biggest errors.

Pennies for Patients is Coming to an End

Mark 12:41-45 says, "Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on."

FCA is raising money for Pennies for Patients. This program raises money for kids with cancer and other sicknesses. Every penny counts. Students who are a part of FCA will be walking around with boxes for a few more days, so if you see them please throw you spare change in their boxes. So far there has been an amazing amount of donations. Please keep donating, every little bit is appreciated! Thank you so much for all everyone has done to support the program.

What are your Priorities?

In Psalm 139:16 says, "Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." God had a plan for us. We plan and organize our schedules everyday. All of the extra curricular activities get in the way of what should be on the top of our game plan, God.

We all lead busy lives but the order of our priorities should always be the same. Many times God gets pushed to the side when if comes to the list of things to do. Things such as prayer and church are forgotten. We need to be determined to have God in our day to day life. The devil will try to set us up expecially when we have to much to do and to little time. He wants to take our time and set our priorities on something else other than God. Life is so busy for students and adults that it is like a blur. But if we walk with God we have relaxation and if we start the day off right with God at the top of the list he will look after us and help us through the day. We need to learn to turn to Him instead of turning away from Him. We look to Him not because we have to but because we want to.

Fear is Only an Illusion- Michael Jordan

Rachel Schwartz (Former Nebraska Volleyball Player) came to FCA on Tuesday morning to share God's Word with students. She shared valuable information for students futures such as the struggles you face with your faith when you go to college. She believes God competely blessed her and what she was able to achieve. When she played volleyball for the Huskers the team created their own bible study. As the season continued more and more players started to attend the Bible Study. They made a new tradition of praying before each game.

Before the game Rachel mentioned that she would get nervous or fearful but God was going to be out there on the court with her just like he is with us where ever we go. It is ok to mess up, God will still be there to help you trough. It is how we learn. As you get older you realize that fear is only an illusion (Michael Jordan). Put your trust in God and fear Him alone. Everything will fall into place. Pray and ask for God's guiding help.

Tuesday Feburary 16 is the next FCA meeting. Join us at 7:30 in room 00 to hear more of God's Word and enjoy some breakfast.
