Uriah Soenksen 1st Team All-American Soccer Player

Uriah Soenksen (Graduate 2016) was recently named a 2016 Lutheran High School First Team All-American soccer player.  The honor is achieved through a rigorous selection process that draws on statistics, coach recommendations, and other awards and honors received by potential candidates.  Previously Uriah had been named to the All-City team (2014, 2015, 2016), and the Nebraska Class B All-State First Team (2015, 2016).

Tara Ziegelbein All-Central Region Team

Tara Ziegelbein is a 2014 Lincoln Lutheran graduate and plays volleyball for the University of Nebraska-Kearney. 

2016 Distinguished Alumni Award

   Dr. Craig Volzke

Dr. Craig Volzke is a 1991 graduate of Lincoln Lutheran Junior High. He went on to attend both Lincoln Northeast High School and Wesleyan University where he played baseball and received a degree in Exercise Science. Craig continued his education by attending Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, earning his Doctor of Chiropractic degree.  Dr.

2016 Distinguished Young Alumni Award

  Liz Vostrez

Liz Vostrez is a 2001 graduate of Lincoln Lutheran High School. When asked how her education at Lincoln Lutheran prepared her for life, Liz said: “I was prepared by a competitive academic program. I was prepared academically for college and graduate school. In fact, there were some courses that were more difficult in high school than college! I loved the one on one special attention from teachers and administrators.

Alumni Sam Malan Recieves Award

Sam Malan and his fellow classmates received a Crystal Pillar Award last weekend from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for the film, “Defector,” which they created and produced in Dordt’s Short Film Production class.  The film tells the story of an American and a German defector in World War II.

The film is up for a few more awards this year and will be released after the end of the award season.  You can find a link to the trailer on Defector’s Facebook page.

Piper Porras is a 1999 graduate of Lincoln Lutheran High School. When asked how her education at Lincoln Lutheran prepared her for life, Piper said: “It has helped me to keep God first and foremost since He is my foundation, my strength, my Creator and the One who can see beyond my circumstances. Christ has given me my talents and therefore He gets all of the glory and honor for the successes I’ve been blessed to experience.

Alumna Esther Soenksen named player of the week

Having already topped her season goal total from 2014, sophomore Esther Soenksen has ridden a hot start to 2015 to GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week recognition, as announced by the conference on Tuesday. It’s the first career weekly award for the former Lincoln Lutheran High School standout.
