Homecoming Week 2011

Each year Lincoln Lutheran students have the privilege of celebrating Homecoming Week with a variety of activities. This year there is also a special emphasis on celebrating the 50thAnniversary of the school’s ministry. Please take some time to review the list of activities below. We hope you can join us for one or all of them.

50th Anniversary Celebration Service – Sunday, Sept. 25 @ 2:00 p.m. The Reverend Dr. Luke Biggs will be our guest speaker at a worship service in the school’s main gym to which all friends and family of Lincoln Lutheran – past, present and future are invited to attend. The service will include participation by pastors from our Lincoln churches as well as music selections from an Alumni Choir and the Lincoln Lutheran High School Choir. All those who support Lincoln Lutheran and its 50 year legacy of Christian education are encouraged to attend. There will be a reception following the service. Tours of the buildings will also be given.

Class Decorating and Powder Puff Games – Sunday, Sept. 25 @ 4:00 p.m.

High school classes will be decorating hallways based on a selected decade, representing a walk through time and look back through 50 years. Following the decorating contest sponsored by the Student Council, Junior and Seniors will compete in a football game for the girls and a volleyball game for the boys. FCA will sponsor a meal at the end of the night for the students. Come out to the practice fields at 5:45 to cheer the girls on to a football victory! The volleyball game will follow in the main gym.

Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting – Monday, Sept. 26 @ 7:45 a.m. Parents, students, staff and friends of Lincoln Lutheran are invited to gather at the west entrance of the school on Monday morning for a short presentation by representatives of the Chamber of Commerce in celebration of the school’s 50thyear. There will be a coffee reception and tours available after the ribbon cutting ceremony. Please join us in celebrating this milestone with the community of Lincoln.

Westfield Mall Pep Rally – Tuesday, Sept. 27 @ 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night Westfield Gateway Mall will be the gathering place to show your school pride. Parents and students of the Warrior family are encouraged to gather with staff and coaches to  celebrate our school community. The pep band will play some selections, the cheerleaders will lead some cheers and students will have a chance to compete in some “Minute-to-win-it” style of contests. Guest are encouraged to arrive at 6:30 for some free pizza. Our goal is to exceed the attendance of both Raymond Central and Lincoln Christian at similar events with over 700 faithful Warriors coming out to support their school!!!

School Pep Rally and Homecoming Coronation – Friday, Sept. 30 @ 2:45 Join the Warrior student body in the main gym for a presentation of the Homecoming Court and the crowning of the 2011 King and Queen.

Homecoming Tailgate and Football Game – Friday, Sept. 30 @ 5:00 p.m. Nebraska Wesleyan University has graciously allowed us to host a special 50th Anniversary Celebration Tail Gate at the Taylor Commons (see map area 16) on Friday, September 30. Starting at 5:00, the Lincoln Lutheran Booster Club will serve hamburgers, hotdogs and brats. A free-will donation will be taken to help off set the cost of the meal. All friends of Lincoln Lutheran are encouraged to attend before heading over for the 7:00 kickoff of the Homecoming Football Game against Gibbon.

Coming Home Reception at Misty’s – Friday after the Football Game Alumni and Friends of Lincoln Lutheran will gather at Misty’s (63rd and Havelock) after the football game. This event requires an RSVP. The $10 ticket will gain you admission to the football game and the social time at Misty’s. Please call Kristi Pedersen in the school office to reserve your ticket. Hors d’oeuvres will be provided; drinks are on your own.
