Cheerleaders with State Championship Trophy

Congratulations to the Lincoln Lutheran High School Cheerleaders for winning State in the C1 Game-day Performance! Game-day is a reenactment of an actual game-day situation. Cheer squads are judged on technique, skills, creativity, sharpness, synchronization, emotions and how the cheer squad engages the crowd. The Warriors scored a 89.5 our of 100 points.

The Warriors Cheer Squad is lead by Senior Kelly Kohlhof and includes Juniors Annelyn Caldwell and Charis Ovwigho, Sophomore Rachael Volin and Freshman Taylor Streich. Their coaches are Kristin Bennett and Julia Bloom.

To compete in the Game-day category, squads have to start with a band dance and do what judges and cheerleaders call a situational sideline. The situational sideline is specific for either a defense chant or a offense chant.  Next, the squad leads a cheer than involves props and getting the crowd excited. And finally you end by doing your school fight song.

There were 20 teams in total completing in this category. Lincoln Lutheran was the smallest squad at only 5 cheerleaders. They may be small, but they are mighty!

There are four categories squads can compete in. The first one being Game Day, then there is Non-tumbling Routine, Traditional Routine, allowing squads to do stunt and have pyramids and tumbling, and finally there is a Tumbling-only Routine, which allows tumbling and no stunting. Lincoln Lutheran competed in both Game-day and Non-tumbling Routines.

Congratulations ladies for all your hard work and dedication throughout the year!
