For their Senior Action project, Carson Oerman and Storm Portsche are holding a food drive for a homeless teen. Food can be dropped off from Thursday, April 28th to Tuesday, May 3rd and can be dropped off in the basket located near the LL Front Desk from 7:00 am - 4 pm M-F.
Here is a little about the student - AS.
She is 17 years old and attends high school in Lincoln, taking college classes in hopes of attending culinary school.
She takes her siblings to school every day and picks them up getting them to their afterschool activities.
While she works two jobs to help pay the bills, it is not enough, and their family was evicted last month.
AS never eats three meals a day, she does not have time. She rarely eats twice a day, food costs too much. She might get one good meal day, but she makes sure her siblings are fed first.
We would like to provide some much-needed support to AS through the donation of healthy food/snacks and or gift cards for gas and groceries. She could use ready-to-eat foods that are nutrient and energy-dense or gift cards for food and gas.
Here is a list of good choices for donation:
Granola bars
Cheese or peanut butter filled crackers
Tuna or seafood packets
Nuts or seeds
Peanut butter
Single serving oatmeal
Dried fruit
Shelf-stable milk or juices
Gift cards for groceries or gas
Food donations can be dropped off in the labeled basket near the LL office.
Any assistance is appreciated and will make a huge difference to this hard-working, kind gal who has so little.
The food will be delivered to AS on May 5th. Thank you SO much for your kindness and generosity!
